CONSULTATIONS

1) Bill 17 an amendment to the Environment Act has been tabled for second reading. Bill 17 places a permanent moratorium on new hog barns in some regions of Manitoba (parts of the Red

2)  We invite you to share your views before June 30, 2008. You can learn more about the proposed energy and water efficiency requirements by downloading a copy of the Stakeholder Consultation Discussion Paper and provide your comments online on our code consultations website at: www.manitoba.ca/labour/ofc/codeconsultations. As part of the consultation process, the Office of the Fire Commissioner will be hosting a series of consultation sessions in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Thompson between April 17 and April 24, 2008. The specific dates, times, and locations for each community are listed on the attached Notice for Consultation Sessions and on the code consultations website. 3) The Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) is currently conducting a Call for Nominations for membership on the Water, Fisheries and Oceans Caucus Steering Committee. 4) Consultations planned for Proposed Amendments to the Metal Mining Effluent Regulations (MMER). Crowflight Minerals is proposing to establish the Bucko Lake mine in northern Manitoba (near Wabowden) and to dispose of tailings in a natural fish-bearing water body. The Environmental Assessment for the project is currently underway. If a decision is made to recommend that the water body be accepted for use as a TIA (Tailings Impoundment Area) the MMER would need to be amended. A national consultation session will be held in conjunction with this proposed amendment in June 2008,
and will occur prior to the completion of the EA for the project. You can get engaged in the EA by following this link:
