The Manigotagan River has been used for thousands of years. Today, the
closest ties are with the people living in the community of Manigotagan.
The river flows through their community before it drains into Lake Winnipeg
and is used as a drinking water source (which is why we ask paddlers to
be extremely careful not to contaminate the water). The community also
maintains a trap line along the river, which is used to educate youth
about traditional lifestyles. The community of Manigotagan is very welcoming
to paddlers and offers various services.
Other nearby communities are Hollow Water First Nation (just North off
of Highway #304), as well as the communities of Seymourville and Aghaming
and the cottage developments of Pelican Harbour, Mantago Bay and Agar's
Cove. To find out more about the communities and their history, follow
