Plan ahead and consider emergencies, so pack at least enough extra food for one additional day. Avoid cans and fresh produce and focus on dried foods. Consider cooking times of e.g., pasta and rice and try to keep these as short as possible. Plan for cooking outside, in a variety of conditions, including wind and rain.
Commercial dried meals are available at various outfitters, but you can also prepare your own meals and dehydrate them in your oven.
