Fishing

Game fish in the Manigotagan River System include Burbot, Cisco, Lake Whitefish, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye and Yellow Perch (1). Known fishing sites along the Manigotagan River Canoe Route described here include Quesnel, Manigotagan and Long Lake (1). Another nearby option is Gem Lake, upstream from Highway #314 (1). Note that you must have a valid fishing license and comply with all applicable rules and regulations if you wish to fish. You can obtain a fishing license from most hardware stores and by mail. For more information on regulations and how to get a license by mail, go here.

If you do fish, remember:

  • Do not clean fish at the campsite - NEVER leave fish remains at a campsite, as they may attract bears!
  • Leave fish remains on a secluded rock for the birds to clean up, or dispose of in DEEP water.
