1. Highway Access - Culverts on Highway #314 near Long Lake
The culvert on Highway #314 near Long Lake is one of the main starting points
for the Manigotagan River Canoe Route.

From Winnipeg, follow PTH 59 north for 24 km. Turn right onto PR
435; after 9.6 km steer left onto PR 214. The road name changes to
PR 502 after 1.8 km. After 0.4 km turn left onto PR 317 and drive
into Lac du Bonnet. There, drive north on PTH 11 to PR 313, turn east
to PR 315 leading to Bird Lake at the South end of Nopiming Park.
PR 314, just inside the park, takes you north to the Manigotagan River,
north of Black Lake campground. (Approximately 3.5 hours from Winnipeg). |
2. Long Lake Access - Windsock Lodge
By starting at Long Lake, you cut out the first three (Class I) rapids.

PR 502 after 1.8 km. After 0.4 km turn left onto PR 317 and drive

3. Quesnel Lake Access - Jackson's Lodge at Caribou Landing
Most people canoe the Manigotagan River as a long week-end trip starting
at Quesnel Lake.

From Winnipeg, follow PTH 59 north to PR 304 to the community of
Manigotagan (170 km). Continue along PR 304 East towards Bissett (88
km/54.7 mi). Near Bissett, there is a small access road leading to
Caribou Landing. (Approximately 4 hours from Winnipeg). |
Main End Points
There are two main take-outs: upstream from the waterfall at Highway # 304
or the public dock by the Administrative Offices further downstream in the
community of Manigotagan.
1. Highway #304 Take-Out
Take-out: River right; there is a path through the cattails and you will
need to carry canoes and gear a few metres to the highway. If you would
like to continue, cross the highway and stay as far left as possible on
river right and follow the path to the put-in on the other side of the waterfall.
2. Manigotagan Public Dock
Take-out: River right; there also is a boat launch, so you will be able
to drive right down to the water with your vehicle.
